A film not upto Trivikram's mark

‘Agnyathavaasi’ is Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s silver jubilee film and it gave the highest pre-release business in Telugu cinemas, after Baahubali2. The hype and frenzy of range it generated were unprecedented. The fans have waited for the release ever since its launch. Agnyathavaasi stands as the first released movie in 2018 with massive publicity. Let’s see if Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram have made the hat-trick or not!

Boman Irani’s character as Govind Bhargav, also known as Vinda is the chairman of AB Group of Industries. He will be assassinated by a businessman of opposition company with a conspiracy to take over his business. Govind Bhargav has two sons. One of the sons gets killed as well. Therefore, the killers speculate on how they are out of hurdles and speculate that there are no family members in the victim’s life.

Govind, who is eminent for having prescient thoughts, keeps a plan B in case of emergency. The plan B is none other than his other son roaming in disguise. Indrani (Kushboo), who played Govind’s wife in the film, will get an important role by bringing back her son who was concealed till now.

Abhishikt Bhargav (Pawan Kalyan) enters in the story as Balasubramanyam into the office of AB Headquarters with another identity. The sole purpose is to find out the people behind his Father’s death.

How he find ways to catch them is all about the story.

Pawan Kalyan’s performance is top-notch with excellent acting skills. He looked stylish and handsome as always. This classy avatar looked apt on him especially in the interval block and the climax scene. He carries the film on his shoulders. Khusboo plays as a step-mother and she did justice. Boman Irani did a marvelous job. The comedy scenes by the duo Rao Ramesh and Murali Sharma managed to entertain well.

Both the lead actresses lack the importance and have dispensable roles. Yet they scored well as per vanity. Aadhi Pinisetty makes an impression with his stylish looks.Tanikella Bharani comes up with winning performance. Vennela Kishore, Raghu Babu, Sampath Raj and others are good in their roles.

Technical Aspects

“Agnyaathavaasi” is a big film with a hefty budget. Many scenes in the film show the plush and classiness. Bollywood cinematographer, V.Manikandan, did a tremendous job. Each scene shows his meticulous effort.

The songs are super hit but are used at wrong timings and Background music is very impressive. The artwork is excellent. Dialogues by Trivikram are decent. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao could have been better. Production values are the main strength.

Plus points:

Pawan Kalyan’s performance

Interval bang

Few comedy-filled scenes in the second half

Music and Cinematography

Production values

Minus points:

Lack of entertainment

Weak writing and logic missed

Heroines characterizations’

Some parts remind Attarintiki daaredi

People who watched the film go on with the statement that the film looked like a sequel to Attarintiki Daaredhi. Some believe that it’s a remake of the international movie “Largo Winch: The Heir Apparent”. The film certainly reminded “Attarintiki Daaredhi” and yes, the story-line was taken from “Largo Winch”. With all the traits of Largo Winch, this Telugu flick lacks thriller, emotion and ingenious writing.

To the audience surprise, the movie lacks comedy and entertainment factor. Noted director, Trivikram, failed miserably this time. He has done a pretty disappointing job with the film.

Mother sentiment scenes between Kushboo and Pawan worked well but they fail to save the film. Trivikram lack magic in the first half and the second half of the movie holds interest. The changes that were made to the original story failed to impress.

The only saving factor of the film is Pawan Kalyan as he carries the whole movie on his shoulders. The crazy combination and festival season should help it to some scope. On the whole the film is watchable once for Pawan Kalyan's screen presence.
