'Ghazi' Movie ReviewMar 02, 2017 04:42 AM
Inspired by true events of India - Pakistan war that happened in 1971, debutante Sankalp Reddy directed the movie, 'Ghazi', which is India's first submarine movie. Rana Daggubati played the lead role in this movie and seasoned actors like Kay Kay Menon, late Om Puri, Nasser, Atul Kulkarni and others played important roles. Let's get into the details of the movie.
As said earlier, the film is inspired by true events that happened during 1971 India-Pakistan war. To help it's soldiers, who were waging a war with Bangladesh, Pakistan army tries to send 'Ghazi', a submarine to Bangladesh and they were left with no option but to go through Indian waters to reach their destination and they even plan to destroy Indian Warship INS VIkranth. Intelligence reports alert the Indian authorities, who in turn deploy Arjun Varma (Rana Daggubati) for the job of destroying Ghazi. How Arjun Varma and his team with the help of a submarine named S21 manages to outsmart Pakistan and completes their mission successfully forms the rest of the story.
Technically, the film has Hollywood standards. The visuals are stunning and the underwater scenes were shot brilliantly. The story, screenplay and dialogues are very good. Debutante Sankalp Reddy's direction is excellent and he is here to stay. The way he handled the movie is just wow. The background score is very good.
After 'Baahubali', Rana Daggubati once again impressed. He is very apt for the role of Lt.Commander Arjun Varma and his performance is very good. Kay Kay Menon once again proves that he is a great actor. Late Om Puri, Taapsee, Nassar, Satyadev, Priyadarsi and other actors are very good.
Story, screenplay, direction
Taapsee's role has no importance
Emotional connect misses in a couple of scenes
'Ghazi' is a brilliant submarine movie. Great story, performances, visuals and direction make the film a must watch. Sankalp Reddy impresses with his debut movie and the credit goes to Rana Daggubati and producer PVP for trusting and giving him a free hand. The film has international standards. The lesser known story about the Ghazi Attack and the way it was executed will appeal everyone. All in all, Ghazi is a must watch movie.
Well-made submarine movie. Must Watch.
