An Adult Comedy

After winning National award for 'Chandamama Kathalu', director Praveen Sattaru, who is well-known for his sensible films, has directed an adult comedy titled 'Guntur Talkies'. The promos have raised curiosity and the team has been saying that it will be a game changer in Tollywood. Let's see if the film is worth the wait.

Story :

Giri (Naresh) and Hari (Siddhu) work in a medical shop in Guntur and as it is difficult for them to make ends meet with meagre salaries, they resort to robberies. But their life takes an unexpected turn when they rob Rs.5 lakhs at a house. Police and dons like Revolver Rani (Shraddha Das) and Jackie (Mahesh Manjrekar) start chasing them. Why are the dons chasing the thieves ? Who is Suvarna and how does Hari win her love ? Watch the film for answers.

Performances :

Naresh is very good as a middle class father, who resorts to robberies to make ends meet. Needless to say, his comedy timing is perfect. Hero Siddhu impresses with his performance. Mahesh Manjrekar as a comedy villain is at his best and he evokes laughter. Though Rashmi doesn't get to play a meaty role, she makes the audiences go weak in their knees with her glamour in songs. Shraddha Das also looks seducing in the role of Revolver Rani.

Technical aspects :

Sricharan's music and BGM are impressive.Though the director tried to make film in an interesting backdrop, the screenplay lacks freshness. Art work is good and so is Ram Reddy's cinematography. The editing should have been better.

Plus points :

Siddhu and Naresh's performances

Rashmi and Shraddha Das' glamour

Comedy

Pre-climax

Minus points :

B-Grade stuff

Some unnecessary characters

Unengaging screenplay

Analysis :

'Guntur Talkies' has overdose of glamour. It has B-Grade stuff and is clearly targeted at youth. But it is to be seen whether even youth will embrace it. Naresh, Siddhu and Mahesh Manjrekar impress with their comedy timing. But as said earlier, the screenplay lacks freshness. There are a few interesting moments in the movie.

Verdict :

'Guntur Talkies' is an adult comedy. A one time watch.
