Interview : Hanu Raghavapudi on 'LIE', results and future projectsAug 10, 2017 05:22 AM
Hanu Raghavapudi is one of the most exciting talents in Tollywood. The young director has already proved his potential with his last two movies, 'Andhala Rakshasi' and 'Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha'. Though 'Andhala Rakshasi' was a commercial failure, it won the hearts of many. KVPG turned out to be a memorable success for him. But Hanu says that he is least concerned about the results and instead he focuses on the process of film-making. In this interview ahead of the release of 'LIE', Hanu talks about the film, his future projects and more.
Truth behind every lie
The film is all about how the protagonist, who is a self-confessed liar, gets into problems because of his lies. Though the hero speaks lies, behind every lie there is some truth. That's the magic of this movie.
The film opens in the perspective of the villain and is driven by his obsession. When I finalized the script, I had no choice in mind other than Arjun for this role. I am a huge fan of him and watched all his films. But I was afraid of approaching him. Nithiin's father Sudhakar Reddy took me to Arjun sir. I was not sure if he would like the story and narrated it with the same fear. But after listening to the script, he said he liked it and said he will do the film. It was at that moment, I felt sure that the film would be a big hit.
I got the idea of LIE in the mean time between 'Andhala Rakshasi' and 'Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha'. I immediately developed the script. When I narrated to it to Nithiin, he liked it very much.
We have shot the film in US for 75 days as the story demands it. 14 Reels Entertainment is like my home banner. The producers have been very supportive. Anil garu's planning is excellent. The film looks like if it is a Rs 70 Crore budget film. The credit goes to the producers.
I am least concerned about the result of a film. I didn't feel bad seeing the result of 'Andhala Rakshasi' and didn't feel over joyous after KVPG became a hit. I feel that we don't enjoy the creative process if we keep thinking about hits and flops.
With Nani again
I am planning a movie in army backdrop with Nani. The film will be shot in Ladakh. The shooting will start in May next year. I've also narrated a story to Akhil. We were supposed to team up earlier. But it didn't happen for some reasons and LIE movie started.
