Interview : 30 is just a number - VenkateshAug 22, 2016 10:12 AM IST
It's been nearly 20 months since 'Gopala Gopala' released and the wait of Daggubati fans to watch Venkatesh on big screen is going to end in a few more days.
'Babu Bangaram', directed by Maruthi and starring Venkatesh and Nayanthara in the leads, will be released on 12th August. On the eve of the release, Venky interacted with Tollywood media and shared details about the movie and his career.
Generally cop roles would be quite serious. But in 'Babu Bangaram', I play a contrasting role. I play a police officer, who is compassionate, which we haven't seen till now. It was fun playing the role and I am sure the audiences would love my characterization.
I don't plan anything and I act in a movie if I like the subject, not considering whether it is a straight film or a remake. When Maruthi narrated this story, I found it very different and I liked my characterization. So I immediately agreed to work with him. Maruthi has been waiting to work with me for a long time. Though 'Radha' was shelved, he approached me with a few stories then after. I liked his passion.
Age ki Age
My chemistry with Nayanthara in the movie will be good. But it is not just like how young pairs share. Audiences would find it funny if I chase heroines in movies. So, we have also included the satire "Age ki Age" in the movie.
Just a number
It's been 30 years since I entered the industry, I don't feel special. 30 is just a number to me. I was indecisive and confused about what to do before becoming an actor. I started understanding my destiny after some time and has been doing films since then. Now I completed 30 years and I should thank the audiences and everyone who supported me in this journey. Success and failure are common in career. What's important is what we've learnt from them.
Movie with Rana
Three writers are preparing subjects for me and Rana. We haven't finalized any subject yet.
I am acting in the remake of 'Saala Khadoos' (Irudhi Suttru in Tamil). I will also work with Kishore Tirumala for a movie, which is tentatively titled "Aadaallu Meeku Joharlu".
