Don't want my roles to be monotonous : Ram Charan

Dec 28, 2016 10:31 PM Ram Charan Interview about 'Dhruva' movie

'Dhruva', the Telugu remake of Tamil movie 'Thani Oruvan', will be released on 9th December and Ram Charan, who reprises Jayam Ravi's role in this movie, is upbeat about the movie. He said that the film is not a regular commercial movie and exuded confidence that it will be a big hit.

Excerpts from his interview..

I am both excited and nervous about the release of 'Dhruva'. It happens before the release of my every movie. But this time I am more confident than ever. Hopefully, this movie will be successful.

Liked it

Producer N.V.Prasad watched Thani Oruvan and felt that I would be apt for the Telugu remake. I also liked the subject very much. I was in discussions with Surender Reddy for a movie when this movie released. I asked him to watch the film and suggest any changes to the script. When he suggested the changes I asked if he will direct this subject instead of the original script. That's how this movie happened.

Wasn't happy

Surender Reddy wasn't happy with the idea of remake at first. In fact, no director likes to remake a film as they are more attached to their own story. But he took time and agreed to direct this remake, He did a fabulous job.

No option

Arvind Swamy was one of the biggest strengths of the Tamil film. We approached him for the same role as we had no other option here and Telugu audiences would also get to see him on screen after a long time. I was first intimidated by his presence as he is a very senior actor. But we got so close that sometimes it would be difficult do some scenes.

No issues

I have no problems with doing remakes. If it is a good story, what's the issue with remaking it. I have no such egos. We did some changes to Thani Oruvan story for the Telugu audience and made it here.

Want to do different films

I don't want to be monotonous and I would like to do different films in the future. If l like the subject, I am ready even to do a horror movie.

Huge responsibility

Producing my dad's prestigious 150th film Khaidi No 150 is a huge responsibility. VV Vinayak has been working hard and has been a pillar of support to me. He is doing a fantastic job.

After Khaidi releases

My movie with Sukumar will start after the release of Khaidi No.150. It will be a different film compared to Dhruva.
