IPL has negligible effect on 'Baahubali 2'May 25, 2017 05:21 AM
Filmmakers generally hesitate to release their films, during world cup and IPL seasons as the cricket fever would be high and it's not easy to pull audiences to the theaters. But IPL has negligible effect on 'Baahubali 2'.
Even as the IPL 10 is heading towards the playoffs and there has been intense competition among the teams, audiences are heading towards theaters to watch 'Baahubali 2'. This shows the euphoria created by SS Rajamouli's film. It is an example of how audiences would lap up a film, if the content is exciting and they are looking for great viewing experiences.
The film has grossed Rs.1000 Crore mark. It is 'unimaginable', considering the fact that it is a Telugu movie and there are no Khans or Kapoors in the movie. BBC and some international channels are doing special programs on the phenomenal success of this 'Telugu' film. Until now, for them Indian film industry means only 'Bollywood'. But with 'Baahubali', they got to know about Tollywood. Prabhas has become a national star with this movie. It's time to redefine 'Indian' cinema.
Let's hope our filmmakers do more and more big films by dreaming 'big', just like Rajamouli did.
