Sai Dharam Tej's last couple of movies have tanked at the box-office and the actor wants a hit to bounce back. He teamed up with writer-turned-director BVS Ravi for the movie, 'Jawaan', which has Tamil actor Prasanna in a negative role and Mehreen Pirzada as the female lead. Krishna, who worked as the manager for Jr NTR and Puri Jagannadh, turned producer with this movie, presented by Dil Raju. BVS Ravi's first movie as a director, 'Wanted', was a flop and even he wants a hit now to get a foothold as a director. Will 'Jawaan' be a good success for both the actor and the director ? Jai (Sai Dharam Tej) wants to get a job in DRDO. Kesav (Prasanna) is his childhood friend, who gets lured by the money and joins hands with terrorists. Jai gets placed in DRDO and the problem starts when Keshav plans to steal a National security weapon named Octopus Missile from DRDO and starts putting pressure on Jai to help him. He goes to the extent of threatening Jai of killing his family members if he doesn't help him. Will Jai succumb to the pressure ? What will he do save his family at the same time the country ? Sai Dharam Tej has given one of his career best performances in the movie. As a youngster, who wants to choose between his family and his country, he has given an excellent performance. Prasanna is menacing and looks very good as a villain. His voice and performance in the film are very good. Mehreen looks glamorous.
SS Thaman, who has already given a good music album, has impressed with his background score. The editing of the film is good. The screenplay is engaging. The cinematography is good. The production values are good.

Not so engaging scenes in second half
'Jawaan' has an impressive and inspiring storyline. The tagline 'Intiki Okkadu' is very apt for the film. The story was written well and the film is engaging. The characterizations of the hero and the villain are good. The family sentiment in the second half is very good and the performance of Sai Dharam Tej impresses. Prasanna gets to play a very good role and he is excellent as a villain. The background score elevates the proceedings. Mehreen Pirzada ups the glam quotient and she looks very hot in the songs. All in all, 'Jawaan' is a good patriotic film.
