Lachhindeviki O Lekkundi - Story-oriented songs

Apr 21, 2016 11:43 AM Lachhindeviki O Lekkundi Music Review

MM Keeravani's album is always awaited, not simply because he innovates with the format and singers but also because the situations are interesting.

Anantha Sriram and Shivashakthi Datta are the lyricists. Anurag Kulkarni, Damini Bhatla, Mohana Bhogaraju, Chandrateja, and Ramya Behara are the singers.

Mayukha

Artist : MM Keeravaani
Lyricist : Shivashakthi Datta

It's a short number rendered by Keeravani, complete with his musical touch. Shivashakthi Datta has penned the lyrics, named after the title of the banner.

Crazy

Artist : Anurag Kulkarni, Damini Bhatla
Lyricist : Anantha Sriram

Anurag Kulkarni has rendered this song with aplomb. While the tune is catchy, the raised tempo may be jarring and unsettling for some. The tuning does remind one of a song from 'Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya'. Damini Bhatla is the female singer, her rendition of 'adi chala bagundi' is top notch. Ananth Sriram has an excellent poetic imagination, it comes to the fore here. The lover boy's excitement is again eminently poetic, as it was in 'Andala Rakshasi'.

Maskesko

Artist : Mohana Bhogaraju, Chandrateja
Lyricist : Anantha Sriram

This one is an item song with so much of slang and rustic language thrown in. For once, the difference between sanyasi and sannasi is made clear! The lyrics are conversational as well as cinematic, at once. Mohana Bhogaraju and Chandrateja have the right vocals. There is a dose of Telangana Telugu and the music itself has a rip off of a bit of 'Sathyam' music.

Ankalamma, Umadevi

Artist : Mohana Bhogaraju, Ramya Behara, Lokeshwar
Lyricist : Shivashakthi Datta

The song is a playful and boisterous rendition. Mohana and Ramya render this unconventional musical with a distinct touch. Keeravani uses a mix of influences to perk up the number for the maximum reach. Lyrics by Shivashakthi Datta are conversational in tone.

Lacchimdevi Dandakam

Artist : Jayaprakash Reddy (JP)
Lyricist : Anantha Sriram

JP is an actor known for his putative accent and dialect. Here he uses his popularity to redeem an otherwise ordinary number, picturized on him, complete with choreography. After a while, the lyrics stop making an impact. The Justice Chowdhary interlude is interesting. All in all, Keeravani presents a simplistic rehash.

Umadevi Music Practice

Artist : Ramya Behara

This one is devil practising singing. Ramya Behara renders the song to both a playful and earnest effect. Musically, the song is just par for the course. A little more effort was needed to give a befitting finish to the album.

Verdict

The imprint of MM Keeravani is all over the album. The album doesn't bank on romantic or mass-oriented numbers. It is actually a story-oriented album; two songs actually seem like a continuation of the other.
