'Okka Kshanam' Movie ReviewJan 05, 2018 05:54 AM
Vi Anand is a well-known director for his movies like ‘Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada’ and ‘Tiger’. They made a fair hit at the box office. His previous movies gave him a boost to experiment on the new concept and earned high expectations. ‘Okka Kshanam' is the latest movie by him who made teaser in a high level of awesomeness with new concept.
Jeeva (Allu Sirish) and Jyotsna (Surabhi) are a couple who meet at a shopping mall for the first time. The love between them is intense. They both often meet at Jyotsna's place. One day, they happen to overhear the neighbors discussion followed by a couple fight. The neighbors are none other than Srinivas (Avasarala) and Swathi (Seerat). Subsequently, Srinivas narrates how he met his wife at a parking lot in a shopping mall and how they fell in love. Jeeva gradually realizes that the lives of Srinivas and Swathi are interweaved with his and Jyotsna's. The suspense is - Will Jeeva and Jyotsana too end up quarreling post-marriage? Will Jyotsna have suicide tendencies like Swathi?
Allu Sirish looked stylish and looks like he developed tremendously in terms of acting. The dichotomy between his earlier films and Okka Kshanam is enormous and has improved a lot. But the story is too strong for Sirish and it slightly affects his expressions and outcome. Surabhi looks gorgeous through out the film and she played an equal role as of the lead actor. She did a fair job. Avasarala Srinivas is an eminent actor and he proved himself quite a lot of times. But the role he played is little weak yet he managed well. Seerat Kapoor has poor acting kills among all. She could have done better. Praveen and Sathya are good. Dasari Arjun Kumar impresses everyone in a negative role.
The music by Mani Sharma is excellent and background score beat all flaws. Technically, it has a host of both thrilling and intelligence aspects. Most of the film was shot in an apartment complex and studio environment. Overall, it provides few genuinely chilling moments.
New and different concept
Director who gave a movie like "Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada", audience expected more than what he delivered earlier. His previous work was well-appreciated and people had high hopes for his upcoming movie. The theme "Parallel Lives" is something novice for Telugu audience and it grabbed the attention in a jiffy. The story line is terrific and could have given a huge blockbuster. But, director couldn’t take the interesting ride for long. Especially after the interval bang. It leaves us monotonous with nothing new to show. There are twists and suspense, but are pretty feeble. Overall, the story had a gradual downfall.
All this being said, Okka Kshanma is a thriller based concept that has few fascinating moments to notice. It engages the audience with twists, suspense and chills. Without digging much deeper, it can manage well as an entertainer and worth watching once.
