Speaking at the audio launch event of 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh', Pawan Kalyan remembered how his brother Chiranjeevi encouraged him to get into films when he was in a dilemma and about how he conceived the story of SGS.

Pawan said, "When I had no knowledge about what acting is, the only hero I know was Chiranjeevi. I used to like Amitabh Bachchan. But after my brother became a hero, I started adoring only him. It is only because of him and my Vadhina, I became an actor. I was a very shy guy and used to hide in my room, if some relatives come to our house. But it is my brother Chiranjeevi who pushed me into this field. He used to work very hard and would come home at midnight when I used to sit idle at home. Being the son of a normal constable, he dreamed big. He created a platform for us and it was easy for us to enter industry. I used to read stories and watch Amitabh films. But when my brother asked me to come to the industry, I thought if I have the required qualities to become a hero. We had differences when I wanted to enter politics. But our relationship is different from politics. I don't want to prove how much I love my brother every time"

"When Johnny became a flop, my brother felt sad and said that I should have worked hard. I didn't do that film out of ignorance. But I had to get compromised with what I had then. My brother likes commercial movies which entertain audiences. I am sure 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' will be such film and will not disappoint like Johnny", he added.

He further added, "When I went to a forest between Khammam and Madya Pradesh (now part of Chattisgarh), many years ago, I felt it would be good if I make a film, wherein a Telugu guy goes to Madhya Pradesh. But I left the thought. I always wanted to do an Indian western film. It should be like a cowboy film, but should be near to our nativity. I took two and half years to write the script of SGS, because I wanted it to be half baked. I thank my friend Sharrat Marat for coping with me in this process. I also thank Eros Sunil Lulla for supporting us even though the film is being delayed. I harassed everyone so that the film releases in April. I thank each and every technician. It is only because of Bobby, we could complete the film in time. We are releasing the film in Hindi since Sunil Lulla suggested it as the film happens in Chattisgarh border. We are not releasing it as a competition to some other film or to prove some thing. We only want a good film to reach everyone".
