Speedunnodu Movie ReviewApr 21, 2016 06:38 AM
When it comes to remakes, Bheemineni Srinivas is one of the most successful directors. He has successfully remade many hit films from other languages into Telugu earlier. After the success of 'Sudigadu', he has taken time to come up with his next. This time, he made a film titled 'Speedunnodu', which is also the director's maiden production venture. Bellamkonda Srinivas of 'Alludu Seenu' fame played the lead and Sonarika of 'Jadoogadu' fame paired opposite him. This film is the remake of super hit Tamil movie 'Sundarapandian'. Let's see if the film impresses the audiences or not.
The film is set in Kurnool district. Shoban (Bellamkonda Srinivas) is the son of Veerabhadrappa (Prakash Raj), who is the president of Ramagiri Panchayat. Shoban is a carefree youngster, who does anything for his friends. Though it was four years since he completed his graduation, he is little bothered about job, life and instead prefers to hangout with his friends all the time. His friend Giri (Madhu) falls in love with a girl named Vasanthi (Sonarika). Shoban takes up the responsibility of making his friend win his love. But as it turns out, Vasanthi falls for Shoban. When his friends come to know about this, they were in for a rude shock. But with a compromise between friends, Shoban starts reciprocating Vasanthi's love. But he gets entangled in a problem created by some other people. How he solves the problem and thereby win his love forms the rest of the story.
Bellamkonda Srinivas once again impressed with his energy. He is very good at dances and action sequences. He also emoted well. Sonarika looks very beautiful in traditional as well as modern dresses. Tamannaah's item song is also a plus for the movie. She is an eye candy and her energetic dance moves are a treat to watch. Srinivas Reddy's comedy timing in the film is good and with Madhu in tandem he entertains audiences in the first half. Kabir Singh and Chaitanya Krishna impress in negative roles.
Technical department :
The cinematography of Vijay Ulaganath is a big asset for the movie. He shows the film in very good light and the picturization of songs is also superb. The music and BGM by Vasanth are impressive. The art work of Kiran is good. Though the editing is decent, some scenes should have been trimmed. Coming to direction, Bheemineni Srinivasa Rao once again proved that he is one of the best at remaking films. He has also turned producer for the film and the production values are excellent.
Plus points :
Performance of Bellamkonda Srinivas
Dance and action sequences
Comedy in the first half
Music and Cinematography
Tamannaah's item song
Minus points :
No emotional connect
'Speedunnodu' is inspired by two super hit films : Tamil film 'Sundarapandian' and Kannada movie 'Raja Huli'. The director impresses with the way he narrates the story and used Bellamkonda Srinivas' energy to the fullest. Srinivas has improved as an actor and he is an actor to look out for. Save for a few clichéd scenes, the film is good and entertaining. The songs placement should have been better. The climax of the film is very good.
'Speedunnodu' is a decent entertainer, which emphasizes friendship. Watch the film for performances, some very good moments and interesting climax.
