'Anandho Brahma' Movie ReviewAug 18, 2017 01:14 PM
Taapsee, who has been away from Tollywood and doing interesting films in Bollywood, has made a comeback in Telugu cinema with the horror comedy, 'Anando Brahma'. This movie carried very good pre-release buzz and has hit the theaters today (18th August). Srinivas Reddy, Vennela Kishore, Thagubothu Ramesh, Shakalaka Shankar, Rajeev Kanakala are among others who play important roles in this movie, directed by Mahi V Raghav of 'Paatshaala' fame. Read on to know how the film is.
An NRI (Rajeev Kanakala) wants to sell his house, but he finds it very difficult to get rid of it as no one comes forward to buy it. The reason is a real estate agent, who takes up the job of selling the house, creates a rumour that it is haunted for his selfish gains. Srinivasa Reddy, who is badly in need of money, comes to know about this and assures the NRI that he will prove there are no ghosts in the house in return for a percentage in the money he gets after selling the house. Along with Vennela Kishore, who is deaf and also suffers from night blindness, Thagubothu Ramesh, a drunkard, and Shakalaka Shankar, who aspires to become an actor, he enters the house. Does Srinivas Reddy really prove that there are no ghosts in the house ? Who is Taapsee and how she brings in a major twist in the narrative ? How all the characters, who come with their own defects, scare off the ghosts ? Watch the film for more ?
The story is different from the regular horror comedies we see every month. The director has written an interesting concept and the comedy in the second half is very good. The background score is good and effective. The cinematography is fine. The dialogues are good as well.
Vennela Kishore, Shakalaka Shankar, Thagubothu Ramesh and Srinivas Reddy leave the audiences in splits with their flawless comedy timing. Especially, Vennela Kishore and Shankar are at their best. Taapsee plays a significant role and she is good. Rajeev Kanakala gets to play an important role and he is good. All the actors do justice to their roles.
First half is less entertaining
Director takes time to establish the story
When it comes to horror comedies, we expect the same routine elements like a haunted house, ghost with a sentimental flashback, scared characters etc. But 'Anando Brahma' is like a breath of fresh air. Though it starts off like a routine horror movie, the film gets very interesting with well-written characters which thoroughly entertain the audiences with their quirks. Vennela Kishore and Shakalaka Shankar leave the audiences in splits. Srinivas Reddy and Thagubothu Ramesh are also very entertaining. Taapsee and Rajeev Kanakala are good in their roles. The second half of the film is hilarious and has a good screenplay. Compared to the second half, the first half is less entertaining. The director takes time to introduce the characters and establish the story. Nevertheless, the film ends up as a very good horror comedy.
Amusing horror comedy
